This guy sizzles with passion and always finishes at the cross and he is one of my favourite preachers. I John is a very difficult Epistle to get your head around, especially at first glance. It is a letter with tension between the sinner finding solace in Christ as an advocate and the false convert discovering the consequential terror of using God's grace as a liscense for sin. Though these concepts can be perplexing, a healthy understanding of Johns frst letter goes a long way to grasping what true conversion really is.  Piper handles this text superbly and profoundly painting a clear picture of true and false conversion.
